Don't miss this chance! To learn the secrets and strategies of effective special education advocacy.
This will not be like any other advocacy seminar you have taken. While the law (IDEA, 504, NCLB) will be discussed, the primary, over arching goal of the conference is to make the law a meaningful, practical tool for parent and advocate. The conference is, thus, structured and taught in such a way as to interrelate the law with educational planning procedures and the civil rights of children with disabilities, which are essential for truly effective advocacy. The objective is not to make lawyers out of parents and advocates, but to provide parents, advocates, and parent attorneys with essential advocacy knowledge and strategies. Throughout the instruction and conference materials Mark will focus upon the issue of how to effectively use this knowledge to obtain good education for our children with disabilities.

The presenter: Mark Kamleiter is a nationally recognized speaker on issues of special education law and advocacy. He has been practicing in Florida for fifteen years and today his practice is exclusively focused upon the representation of children with disabilities in public schools. Mark represents children throughout the state of Florida.
After years of practice and legal advocacy in special education, Mark is convinced that the secret of turning education around for children with disabilities is found in the education of parents and advocates, not only in the law and educational principles, but also in proven strategies for moving past the barriers of "unwritten policies" and resistant school IEP teams. Mark is determined to seek out every opportunity to teach parents, advocates and parent attorneys everything he has learned over his fifteen years of practice in this area. This conference is the first of a series of conferences Mark will be presenting around the state of Florida
